Just a short drive from Arusha, Arusha National Park is a hidden gem offering diverse landscapes and an array of wildlife within a compact area. Known for its breathtaking views of Mount Meru, lush forests, sparkling lakes, and open savannas, the park is perfect for a one-day safari adventure.
7:30 AM – Pick-up from Your Hotel
We’ll start early with a convenient hotel pick-up in Arusha. Your guide will brief you on the day’s activities as we drive to Arusha National Park, just a short 45-minute journey.
8:30 AM – Arrival and Park Entry
Upon arrival, we’ll begin with a scenic drive through the park, offering panoramic views of Mount Meru, Tanzania’s second-highest mountain. Get your camera ready as we enter some of the park’s unique landscapes, from forests to open grasslands.
9:00 AM – Guided Game Drive
Our first stop is a game drive through the park’s diverse habitats. Keep an eye out for giraffes, buffaloes, warthogs, zebras, and, with some luck, the rare colobus monkeys in the lush forests. The landscapes here are uniquely varied, making for excellent wildlife viewing and photography opportunities.
11:00 AM – Walking Safari in the Ngurdoto Crater Area
Enjoy a guided walking safari around the Ngurdoto Crater, often called the “Little Ngorongoro.” This experience lets you stretch your legs while learning about the park’s flora and fauna. You’ll be accompanied by an armed ranger as you observe wildlife in a close and safe environment.
12:30 PM – Lunch at Momella Picnic Site
We’ll pause for a relaxing picnic lunch at the scenic Momella Lakes picnic site, where you can unwind while enjoying views of the lakes and the surrounding wildlife. Lunch is provided, and there will be ample time to take photos and enjoy the peaceful setting.
1:30 PM – Canoeing on Momella Lake (Optional)
For those seeking a unique perspective, join an optional canoeing safari on Momella Lake. Glide along the water, surrounded by hippos and flamingos, and enjoy close-up encounters with water birds and other aquatic wildlife. This activity offers an intimate view of the park from a different angle.
3:00 PM – Afternoon Game Drive
Continue exploring the park with an afternoon game drive through open plains and wooded areas. This is a great time to see more wildlife, especially as animals start to gather around water sources for a final drink before dusk.
4:30 PM – Return to Arusha
After a full day of adventure, we’ll begin our drive back to Arusha, with an expected arrival at your hotel by 5:30 PM.
